Housed in a large tent which dominates Media City UK’s airy piazza, Van Gogh Alive invites Manchester art lovers to step inside the mind of one of the world’s most influential and critically acclaimed artists.
Having wowed audiences during its stint at London’s Kensington Gardens, this immersive showcase of the Dutch post-impressionist’s work has finally made its way up North, bringing with it the towering video screens and visual displays that allow you to access Vincent Van Gogh’s paintings like never before.
After attendees have enjoyed a quick Insta-session at the attraction’s in-house 3D recreation of Van Gogh’s intimate painting ‘The Bedroom’ (where you can literally step inside the work and sit on the artist’s bed and chair), they can make their way into the main event – a dark space illuminated by a huge video presentation taking you through the icon’s work and personal life.
Spanning around 30 minutes, visitors can then get a second Insta-hit in the hypnotic sunflower room, where they’ll come face to face with one of Van Gogh’s favourite subjects for his paintings, before visiting the resident gift shop. Touching and visually impressive – if a little brief – Van Gogh Alive can be found at Salford’s MediaCityUK until Tuesday January 23 2022, with tickets costing £23.50.
