Stockport beat-maker Mr Scruff is a huge cult figure in this city. His marathon DJ sets are the stuff of legend, often lasting over six hours. In a fortnightly residency at Band On The Wall he can be found fusing everything from Jazz rarities to modern Dubstep.
This eclectic taste is what makes his Ninja Tune releases so compelling. The best of his work is to be recreated this month by a nine-piece band without a sampler in sight. Introducing – the band taking on the challenge – previously reworked DJ Shadow’s seminal album, Endtroducing. Now they take on Scruff’s six record back-catalogue.
Expect to hear the Moondog sampling Get A Move On! performed completely live along with other highlights from Keep It Unreal, plus plenty of fun moments and funky basslines. Doors open at 20:30 and tickets are £12.50 in advance
