French indietronica act M83 will arrive in Manchester next week to play the HMV Ritz. The show will be part of their express UK tour in support of their quietly confident new album Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming. This highly ambitious and equally infectious record marks the fifth studio offering from frontman Anthony Gonzalez and features colabs with fellow Euro electropopers Zola Jesus among others.
This seven-date tour will see the band stop at Bristol, Glasgow, Leeds, Birmingham, Brighton and London throughout late January and early February. With Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming, M83 somehow managed to bottle an epic journey, capturing stylish synths and mind spinning hooks that’ll plague you between listens in the best possible way. This 22 track trip, spread over two sides to give you chance to catch your breath, asks you to invest almost 80 minutes of your time. No small request from any band. However M83 come good on their request, rewarding your patience with an album with staying power. The result is a blended mix of both old and new. It’s something refreshingly different twisted together with a dash of nostalgia and topped off with the confident swagger of a band comfortable in their own abilities.
With 2012 very much upon us, M83 live at Manchester’s HMV Ritz could be a gig you carry with you throughout the New Year. Catch them before they move to the bigger venues they so deserve. Full tour dates can be found below, tickets are on sale now.
