Emo heavyweights return to the UK for a co-headlining tour this week
Taking Back Sunday and Alkaline Trio are heading to the UK this week for a string of co-headlining shows featuring a stop in Manchester.
The emo and pop-punk icons – who are likely both responsible for introducing many to the eclectic world of alternative music – will be sharing the stage across five shows, including a visit to Manchester’s Victoria Warehouse on Friday March 4.
With pandemic restrictions easing and live shows returning to some kind of normality, this celebration of all things pop-punk will no doubt be welcomed by Manchester-based fans of the genre, coming just one week after Wrexham’s Neck Deep lit up the very same stage during a sell-out show that closed out their recent UK tour.
Despite managing to fit in an express trip to Leeds for Slam Dunk North last September just before Omicron reared its infectious head and sent the industry back into temporary disarray, these new shows will mark Alkaline Trio’s first major UK trek since 2015 – making it a must for fans of the “Private Eye” trio.
Taking Back Sunday have reason to celebrate too, with March 26 marking the twentieth anniversary of their culture-defining debut album Tell All Your Friends – an anniversary date that’s sure to make long-time emos up and down the country squirm in their Converse and definitely feel a little old.
Still – as a bulletproof cornerstone of the genre, you can guarantee the band’s upcoming Manchester show will pay fitting tribute to this much-loved record, while crowds will no doubt relish the chance to welcome Alkaline Trio back up north.
Unsurprisingly tickets have flown out fast – but if you’re lucky, you might still be able to find a couple lurking online.
