Indie-rock six piece Beirut will play the O2 Academy in Leeds this September as part of a larger UK tour. Having already been confirmed to appear at next month’s Field Day Festival in London, the band, originally from Sante Fe, New Mexico, will play three post-summer dates. In addition to Leeds, Beirut will perform to crowds at Glasgow’s Barrowland Ballroom and London’s Hammersmith HMV Apollo. These shows will be the band’s largest UK headlining performances to date.
This express UK tour comes just one year after the release of their critically acclaimed third album The Rip Tide which features the infectiously indie track Sante Fe. This record also marked a slight departure from their earlier work which took its influences from a grab bag of European sounds and worldly music.
