The Courteeners have announced plans for two outdoor shows at Castlefield Bowl in good old Manchester. The band have pencilled in these back-to-back gigs for the 5th and 6th of July, with tickets due to go on sale on Thursday 28th March at 9am sharp. Having just finished their biggest UK tour to date, the band seemingly can’t get enough of playing to huge congregations. Castlefield Bowl holds around 8,000 fans and with their latest album Anna pushing them further and further into ‘arena band’ territory, they should have no problem selling out both nights.
Joining the band on their Northern excursion are a handful of acts who, like smearing peanut butter on a snickers bar, just make a good thing better. Miles Kane, The Strypes, The Heartbreaks, James Skelly & The Intenders and Findlay are all charged with the job of helping Manchester lace up their dancing shoes. The first three acts will open Friday’s show while the latter two will kick off Saturday’s performance. We’re sure they’ll all do just fine. Between now and July, Courteeners fans will have to settle for a new single to keep them busy. The band will unleash Van Der Graaff on May 6th, so keep your ears peeled for that one.
